Preparing for a leadership position in long term care administration starts with academic preparation. NAB’s accredited college and university programs in long term care administration offer students seeking a career in long term care leadership and management a distinct career advantage. These are the only programs that have met rigorous requirements to assure that their curriculum incorporates the domains of practice of a long term care administrators. Many states recognize graduates of these programs as meeting all or part of their educational and/or experiential licensure requirements. |

State Licensing Boards/Agencies

All administrators of nursing homes must be licensed by the applicable state licensing board or agency to work as a nursing home administrator. Many states now have educational, certification or licensure requirements for administrators of assisted living communities.
