John a former administrator, educator and resident of long-term care left a legacy of strong leadership in the field of long-term care.  Administrating and Executive of various nursing homes and CCRC’s John devoted his life to bring new leaders into the field.  He was a professor at Oregon State University in the Health Department for over 24 years where he mentored and place Administrators in Training (AITs) in various organizations that have created a legacy of John’s compassion to support well-trained Administrators in the LTC careers. John served on Boards of several State and National organizations and Executive leadership rolls including NAB and LeadingAge. John’s career came full circle when he retired and became a resident at ROCK OF AGES where he continued his involvement in long-term endeavors such as National Association of Long-Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB). He continued to be an exam developer, serving on committees that created exams that credential incoming administrators till his passing in January 2022.  A gift from NAB to create a Scholarship fund to assist staff at Rock of Ages was formed to carry the John Hogan legacy of developing strong leaders in a career in LTC.

Scholarship’s Purpose
The purpose of the John Hogan Scholarship is to encourage and support staff members to a higher level of education to further a career in long term care organizations.  With an individual’s further knowledge through education and training it is the purpose of this grant to help fund those endeavors.  By receiving a grant, it is our desire that the legacy of John Hogan would create an ongoing compassion for strong leaders who care for individuals in long-term care settings.
