NAB Announces Launch of Professional Practice Analysis
Task Force Selected to Define and Delineate Skills and Domains of Practice
Across the Continuum of Long Term Care Administration
WASHINGTON, DC--The National Association of Long Term Care Administrator Boards (NAB) announces the launch of a professional practice analysis to identify the domains of practice, tasks performed, and knowledge and skills used by individuals responsible for leadership in organizations that provide long term care supports and services. This analysis will identify domains of practice and skills that apply to all areas of long term care–nursing home, resident care, assisted living, hospice, home care, adult day care and independent living–in an effort to yield a comprehensive “job description” for all long term care administrators.
The practice analysis will center around a task force charged with delineating the domains of practice, skills, knowledge and tasks that constitute the core competencies for all long term care administrators. The task force is comprised of 15 members who represent both various regions of the nation and the diversity of experiences in the field. “We are excited to initiate this groundbreaking practice analysis,” stated NAB President and CEO Randy L. Lindner. “Long term care has increasingly gained greater focus in national health care discussions, and more than ever there is a need to educate and train qualified individuals who are attuned to the myriad aspects of long term care. The individuals invited to serve on the task force represent all aspects of long term care administration, and they will ensure that the practice analysis will benefit practitioners across the continuum of long term care.”
